Situated in the nationally designated city of Delray Beach, the Center provides a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care to clients and their families in surrounding communities.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Forensic Screener to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for conducting initial screenings of individuals involved in criminal investigations, ensuring that proper mental health assessments are conducted, and collaborating with law enforcement, legal teams, and mental health professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of forensic psychology, mental health evaluations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, sensitive environment.
- Coordinates with the State Attorney and Public Defenders office in regards to client's cases
- Visit Jail in order to conduct mental health screenings and assessments for individuals involved in criminal investigations.
- Evaluate risk factors such as mental illness, substance abuse, and behavioral issues to inform case management and treatment plans.
- Gather and document relevant information from clients, family members, and case files.
- Attend Forensic Team meetings at SCMHC.
- Collaborate with law enforcement officers, attorneys, and other professionals to ensure accurate and timely screenings.
- Prepare reports and recommendations based on screening results for use in legal proceedings.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards when dealing with sensitive information.
- Assist in the development and implementation of treatment plans for individuals who require mental health services.
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary, offering immediate support and referrals to mental health professionals.
- Stay up-to-date with developments in forensic psychology, legal requirements, and best practices.
Master's Degree in Human Services or Criminal Justice Preferred.
Certified Criminal Justice Specialist or Forensic Counselor through ACCFC or NAFC
Minimum Requirement's of a Bachelors degree in Human services and 3 years experience in a mental health setting.
