EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
6 months of experience with mentally ill adults
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
AA/AS Degree in Health Sciences or related field
1 year of experience with mentally ill adults
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Demonstrate the ability to interpret and abide by confidentiality laws, abuse reporting guidelines, clients rights requirements, and adhere to a code of ethical practice standards
Possesses general knowledge of adult mental illness
Current knowledge of adult CPR & Basic First Aid
Must be able to document client's progress in a legible and accurate manner
Good communication and interpersonal skills; interact professionally with clients and co-workers
Excellent time management skills (light housekeeping, client chores, meals on time, programming, etc.)
Proven ability to teach clients daily living skills i.e. hygiene, housekeeping, social skills, budgeting, physical fitness, medication compliance
Exhibit the ability to handle physically or verbally aggressive clients
Must have a valid Florida Drivers License and be insurable
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the safety and protection of residents
Provide direct supervision and coaching to residents in developing and maintaining an appropriate personal routine and daily living skills i.e. personal hygiene, daily housekeeping, etc.
Role-model appropriate problem solving and social skills
Engage clients on daily basis in working toward personal recovery and self-sufficiency
Model and teach general housekeeping skills to maintain appropriate facility appearance
Meet with assigned clients, daily, to discuss progress and program goals
Transport and provide supervision of residents during social activities, as needed
Assist clients with self-administered medication according to established standards and communicate any issues to supervisor
Attend team meetings and trainings as required by SCMHC and RTF (residential treatment facility) department
Communicate with co-workers and supervisors regarding observed client behaviors and progress toward program goals
Document client notes in EHR (electronic health record) system; every assigned client on every shift worked
Complete daily Shift Note Summary
Performs all other duties as assigned
